The Lake Garda region has plenty of fans among mountain climbers and via ferrata enthusiasts. After all, they can hone their skills on the steep slopes above Lake Garda almost the whole year round. Monte Albano, Via Pisetta, Che Guevara and the Via dell’Amicizia – this is the roll call of names that make the via ferrata fan’s heart beat faster. While, for climbers, part of the fascination lies in the contrast between the dark blue waters and the white limestone rock faces.

The “Via dell’Amicizia” route actually starts in Riva del Garda itself and from there climbs steeply through 1,000 m of ascent. You can start the route straight from the Active & Family Hotel Gioiosa, with no need to use the car.

And in Arco, the village that neighbours Riva del Garda, you’ll find a veritable Eldorado for climbers. On the many rock faces there you can climb routes of virtually every level of difficulty. The village of Arco also hosts the “Rock Master”, one of the most prestigious climbing competitions in the world.
In the area around the northern end of Lake Garda and the resorts of Riva del Garda, Arco and the neighbouring villages, you’ll find more than 1,000 recognised climbing routes.
